Kelvindale residents invited to find out more about homes plan for Dorchester Avenue

Homes plan at Dorchester Avenue in Kelvindale will see more than 130 homes for the local area

A developer behind plans for homes at a site on Dorchester Avenue in Kelvindale is inviting residents to a fact-finding event next week.

Mactaggart & Mickel Homes is to resubmit a refreshed proposal for more than 130 studio, one and two-bedroom flats for the site.

The proposals are changed in light of changing housing needs in the city from an original submission made eight years ago for more than 80 units ranging from townhouses to duplex apartments.

In a letter to Kelvindale Community Council, the developer said: "Mactaggart & Mickel Homes is committed to working closely with the community of Kelvindale and Glasgow City Council to ensure the successful delivery of the development at Dorchester Avenue.

"We intend to resubmit a refreshed proposal for the site which will provide the area with quality housing in the form of 132 studio, one and two-bedroom flats.

"We would like to invite you to attend a public event to find out more about the proposed development."

The new plans are for units to be housed in three individual buildings.

Parking and bicycle storage facilities are included for every home, and landscaping plans include shared green space and a woodland area.

According to MacTaggart & Mickel, the proposed seven and eight storey buildings will be designed using a "carefully selected palette of materials in keeping with existing properties in the local area".

People with an interest in the plans to attend the event and, if they have any concerns, to follow them up using the procedures which will be explained at the event.

Kelvindale Community Council will also be looking at the plan, and, after discussion at its next meeting on May 19, we will also be ensuring that any points that need to raised are raised in accordance with the procedures and time scales contained within the Planning process and regulations.

The public event to find out more about the proposed development is on Thursday May 12 at Kelvindale Bowling Club on Baronald Drive from 3pm -7pm.
