Man suffers puncture wound in violent attack in Old Dumbarton Road

Two men hunted following a violent assault on 49-year-old man in Yorkhill.

A man needed hospital treatment for a puncture wound after he was attacked in Old Dumbarton Road, Yorkhill.

Two men are being hunted following the violent assault on the evening of Wednesday June 1.

The 49 year-old victim became involved in an altercation with the two men inside Nav’s Stores on Old Dumbarton Road at around 9.55pm.

When the man went outside the shop he was assaulted by the two men who then made off in the direction of Argyle Street.

Appeal: Detectives at Partick are keen for anyone with information to come forward.

He was taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where he was released after receiving treatment for a puncture wound.

One of the suspects was white man, early 50s, 5ft 10, slim build, short black/grey hair with a scar running along his right cheek. At the time of the incident he was wearing a white shirt with jeans.

The other was a white man, early 40s, 5ft 6, medium build, brown/grey hair and is described as having a distinctive ‘beer-belly.’

At the time of the incident he was wearing a navy blue t-shirt with an image on the front, dark trousers and was carrying a white bag.

Detective Graham Morrison of Partick CID today: “This was a violent and targeted attack which left the victim requiring treatment in hospital.

“I would like to speak to anyone who witnessed this attack or anyone who saw the two suspects running off afterwards as they may have information that could assist us in identifying those responsible.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Partick CID via the 101 number or alternatively information can be passed via CRIMESTOPPERS where anonymity can be maintained.
