Birthday: Glasgow Science Festival has become a popular annual event.

"It's been a great showcase of everything that is going on at the University of Glasgow at the moment.

"We asked people to bake science-inspired cakes; and we've got dinosaurs, we've got a Periodic table, and the Northern Lights. They're all fantastic!

"We've got so many really creative ways that researchers have been sharing their research.

"So, for example, the gravitational waves team have found a way to combine art and science to shore that story, which is such a difficult concept."

Activities: Children come back year after year to the festival.

Experts: Exhibits and experiments are staffed and presented by real-life researchers.

Deborah explained why the event had become so popular.

"The things like the labs - people love to play with real kit and use actual equipment.

"We are now getting the same children back year on year, and they're actually dragging their parents along.

Organiser: The festival was co-founded in 2006 by marine biologist Dr Deborah McNeill.

"They've got their favourite things they want to do, the sorts of areas of science and engineering that they are in to."
