A bowling club in the West End is throwing its doors open next month to people in the area looking for a new pastime.

Hyndland Bowling Club in Queensborough Gardens is one of more than 200 clubs across Scotland signed up to the Try Bowls campaign.

The club will host the event on Saturday August 6 between midday and 5pm.

Watch: Hyndland Bowling Club is taking part in the Try Bowls initiative.

The drive by Bowls Scotland is aimed at halting the decline in membership at clubs over recent years.

Suzie Wallace, 34, a member at Hyndland, says bowls is a sport anyone can play for fun at very little cost.

Fun: Bowls is a sport for all ages and abilities.

She said: "It's an afternoon from 12pm to around 5pm where anyone can come along to Hyndland Bowling Club and try bowls.

"Experienced players will be on hand to offer guidance and there will be targets and fun challenged set up on the green.

Free: The Try Bowls open day takes place on August 6.

"There will also be a bbq with burgers and hot dogs on offer.

"The aim of the day is to encourage people to get involved with the sport of bowls and show that it's a fun sport for everyone of all ages."
