New video: It's a Pizza Magic as popular Hyndland eaterie named Best Takeaway

West End Pizza business is vying for national honours after scooping the title of Best Takeaway in Glasgow.

It is a West End institution which has been serving its customers for more than a quarter of a century.

Now Hyndland's very own Pizza Magic is waiting to see if it will be crowned Scotland's Best Takeaway.

Watch: Marco Stevenson explains how his business has stood the test of time.

It comes after the pizza outlet, founded, owned and run by Marco Stevenson, last month scooped the Best Takeaway title in the Glasgow Awards 2016.

The shop now goes forward to vie for the national title in The Food Awards Scotland 2016.

The winner will be announced at a glittering ceremony on August 15 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Glasgow.

National: Pizza Magic will now go forward to the Scottish awards.

Marco said he and his staff were delighted and honoured to have been recognised for their efforts.

"They looked at our social media, the reviews that the business has received from its customers, and they looked at the length of time that we have been around.

"And we won the Glasgow title from a short list of ten. The awards were held at the Crowne Plaza in Glasgow.

"We went along and to our surprise we won it - we are absolutely delighted. It's fantastic."

Top slice: Marco Stevenson started his business on Hyndland Road 27 years ago.

It has been a long road for the takeaway on Hyndland Road, next to Old Station Park, which has remained true to its values and customers through times of change in the market.

Marco said: "We have been in business for 27 years now, and in the beginning we were probably the only people who were delivering pizzas in the West End.

"But look at it now, there is a lot of competition. I think we have done pretty well. We have kept going and we have got stronger over the years.

Popular: Fresh ingredients and online ordering make Pizza Magic a hit with customers.

"We were the first people in Glasgow to be doing online ordering, which we have done for the past 25 years.

"I was once asked to do a speech on IT in front of delegates from around the country at the SECC because they were so impressed with what we were doing with our website.

"What we like to do is to always stay ahead of everybody else with technology and the product that we put out there."

Customers: A public vote played a part in winning Pizza Magic its award.

Creative Oceanic, the creators of the Glasgow Awards, said the awards were about recognising talented individuals and businesses dedicated to "amazing service and fantastic quality".

Irfan Younis from Creative Oceanic said: "It was amazing to see so many people come out to support the nominees.

"The Glasgow Awards has been highly successful as people want to celebrate their home grown talent and because Glasgow is such an inspirational city."
