Maryhill Burgh Halls launches a packed new Autumn arts and culture programme

Arts and culture events for all the family launched at popular community hub in the West End.

Maryhill Burgh Halls Trust is hosting a new art programme this Autumn 2016, full of exciting workshops and classes for all ages and abilities.

A wonderful range of artists is offering a variety of workshops for people in the area to try out their crafty side.

Arts co-ordinators at the popular community hub invite anyone to discover their voice, meet new friends and have fun.

Courses include an introduction to songwriting, creative writing for beginners, up-cycling and creative furniture recycling, pinhole photography, how to write a comic and the art of comedy.

Christine Grady, the centre's heritage development manager, said: "The art programme is a new venture for the Burgh Halls Trust to provide children, young adults and adults arts activities.

"We hope to grow the programme further in the next year and welcome more artists to provide creative arts workshops for all ages."

As a launch of the programme, taster sessions of some of the workshops will be held at the Burgh Halls’ Doors Open Day events this weekend - Saturday 17 & Sunday 18 September.

Maryhill Burgh Halls Trust formed in 2004 and raised £9.6 million to refurbish the Victorian Maryhill Burgh Halls.

The Burgh Halls reopened in 2012 and now functions as an event and heritage venue with spaces available to let.

The Halls are open between 10am and 3pm on both days, please visit our website for details of available tours, guided walks and workshops at http://www.maryhillburghhalls.org.uk/updates/ or like the hall's Facebook and Twitter for more information:
