Driver and passengers escape injury after attack on taxi by armed men in Maryhill

Police hunt two men who attacked taxi with three people inside in West End.

Two men armed with weapons tried to attack the occupants of a taxi in the Maryhill area of the West End.

The incident happened in Wilton Drive on Wednesday November 9 at around 8.45pm.

According to Police Scotland, 44 year-old man was in his black Hyundai i40 taxi in Wilton Drive at Wilton Street, with two passengers on board.

Two men approached the taxi and tried to attack the occupants with weapons.

They did not gain access to the taxi but they did damage the vehicle.

The taxi managed to drive off in the direction of Raeberry Street and then reported the incident to police.

The first suspect is described as white and in his 20s, around 5ft 9 inches in height and of medium build.

He was wearing dark coloured clothing and a dark-coloured hat.

The second suspect is described as black, around 20 years of age, 5ft 7 inches in height and of slim build.

He was wearing dark coloured clothing and a dark-coloured hat.

Detective Sergeant Thomas Carey of Maryhill Police Office said: “Enquiries are ongoing to establish more details on the circumstances surrounding this incident and to trace the two men involved.

“Luckily no one was injured during this incident, however the taxi was damaged.

“I would appeal to anyone who was in the area of Wilton Drive and Wilton Street around the time of this incident, who witnessed the incident, or who has information that may assist this investigation.
