Shoppers set to flock to Hidden Lane and Hive for second Festive Finnieston event

Alternative West End shopping hub welcomes visitors and shoppers to a special Christmas event this Saturday.

Calling all Christmas shoppers looking for a totally different experience this winter.

Go no further than the West End this weekend for Festive Finnieston.

The all-day event takes place at The Hidden Lane and The Hive warren of shops and studios which lie off Argyle Street.

Festive Finnieston - on Saturday December 10 from 11.30am to 7.30pm - is the second time businesses have put on the shopping extravaganza.

Last year, the event went ahead despite gale force winds and pouring rain.

Aefa Mulholland at Festive Finnieston said: "Last year, despite 85mph, pouring rain and an incident with a marquee and a chestnut brazier, the event was a great success.

"We all really enjoyed it and it brought loads of people down the Lane who had never been before.

"This year we've got twice as many studios opening their doors in the Lane.

"We've also added a dozen businesses in the Hive, the big four-storey building set back from Argyle Street just opposite Lebowski's.

"It'll be a great wee day out with more than 40 businesses in the Hidden Lane and the Hive taking part."

Shoppers and visitors will be able to browse stocking fillers, Christmas decorations, cards, Christmas cakes and Christmas hampers, plus lots of jewellery, craft, art, prints, homewares and books.

Aefa Mulholland, The Hidden Lane & The Hive:

"There will be live music in-store at the New Hellfire Club, La Chunky Studios and at Inner Ear, who are also doing live radio broadcasts during the day.

"And if you're just curious about what goes on down the Lane and in the Hive, it's a good way to find out all the incredible things that are going on behind Argyle Street!

"Pop down, have a wee glass of Prosecco and a mince pie and explore."

There are prize draws and the New Hellfire Club is collecting donations for the foodbank.

The Hidden Lane Tearoom will be open and doing hot drinks and cakes, plus loads of edible gifts on offer.

Green MSP Patrick Harvie, who moved his office to the Hidden Lane in the summer, will be there dishing out mince pies from his studio.

Aefa said: "A lot of our health, alternative health and beauty businesses will be open, too, with hair, dreadlock and nail specials plus free yoga, pilates, hot yoga, reflexology and hypnotherapy sessions for people to try out.
