What's In A Mile 2016? Still time for West End residents to be part of arts project

Residents invited to snap favourite images of homes on phone or camera and submit to feature in exhibition in 2017.

It's free to take part and easy to submit entries.

Iota - the Partick-based arts space - is inviting submissions for an intriguing project to create a snapshot of what makes us feel at home in the year 2016.

Over the last 12 months residents living within a mile radius of the arts project's home in Hyndland Street have been invited to take images of their favourite space at home.

Iota has received scores of entries for its What's In A Mile project but there is still time for more residents to take part.

The idea is that next year iota will exhibit the pictures to reveal the different and varied interiors that surround our domestic lives.

It will provide a record of interior tastes and styles - and simply what 'home' means for those living within the mile.

Monica McCarey at iota said: "They don't have to be great photographs - people might be thinking 'I'm not a great photographer'.

"Well, it doesn't matter - this is not a photography competition, it's about recording that favourite aspect of our homes.

"It can be a corner of a room, a window with a view, a cupboard, a mantelpiece covered in ornaments.

"What the end result is will be determined by what the entries are - it might be slideshows or prints, it depends on what we get."

Duncan Scott, also at iota, said: "People still have time to submit their entries. It's easy to do, and doesn't take long at all.

"It's Christmas but we are hoping there are people who can make a small bit of time to submit their pictures."

Simple steps are:

* Take at least three high-resolution pictures (minimum 300 pixels/inch) on your phone of your favourite space at home.

* Email them or bring them to iota, along with your details. Please see below. Please also tell iota about your entry.

* Look out for details of the exhibition next year.

iota's website says of the project: "Collecting the curious, the fantastic, the fashionable and the classic- whether space, fittings, furniture, bespoke pieces, alterations or objects, we want to see it!

"From Govan to the Botanics and the Park area to the Crow Road, we are looking for a varied selection of intrigue and delight."

* Email your pictures to: iota@unlimitedstudios.co.uk
