Delivery driver robbed of van and phone by a man with a knife on Cleveden Road

Detectives appeal for information after van driver robbed in a busy West End street.

A delivery driver has been robbed of his van while making drops in the West End of Glasgow in the run-up to Christmas.

Police said the 30-year-old driver was unhurt but shaken by the experience which happened on Tuesday at around teatime (December 20).

The driver was making his way back to his white Ford Transit van on Cleveden Road at around 5.30pm.

It was then that he was approached by the man who threatened him with a knife.

The man then took the victim’s keys and mobile phone before making off with the van along Cleveden Road towards Glasgow city centre.

The suspect is described as in his late 20s to mid 30s, 6ft tall and of medium build.

He was wearing a black tammy hat and had a dark coloured snood covering the lower half of his face.

He was also wearing a dark coloured jacket and dark trousers.

Detective Inspector Alasdair Barlow is from the Community Investigation Unit based at Govan.

He said: “Thankfully the victim was not hurt during this incident but it was nonetheless a very frightening experience.

“Cleveden Road would have been busy with other motorists and pedestrians at the time.

"I would urge anyone who witnessed what happened or saw anything suspicious to come forward.

“Anyone with information can contact officers at the Community Investigation Unit based at Govan via 101.

"Alternatively you can call CRIMESTOPPERS on 0800 555 111 where details can be given in confidence.”
