Judy Murray to make guest appearance at Rally For Bally charity event in Hyndland

Charity day is on course to surpass last year's event which raised more than £20,000 for good causes.

Tennis coach and supermum Judy Murray is to star at a charity fundraiser in the West End next month.

Judy will head a list of famous faces at the Rally For Bally event on Saturday June 3.

Judy, mother of tennis stars Andy and Jamie Murray, will lead on-court games and coaching with a host of celebrities including comedian Sanjeev Kohli, weather presenter Judith Ralston and journalist Kaye Adams.

Julie Gordon is one of the organisers of the star-studded event taking place at the Western Health & Racquets Club on Hyndland Road.

She told Glasgow West End Today: "We are absolutely delighted that Judy will be joining us again for a our very special day.

"Judy is going to be running the celebrity tennis event this year.

"She will be doing some coaching with the guys, organising some fun matches, and hopefully giving them some top tips.

"She is predominantly going to be on court.

"She came a couple of years ago and did a great job of rounding up the troops."

Now in its fourth year, the fundraiser was started in memory of Scottish tennis star Elena Baltacha who died from liver cancer in May 4, 2014, aged just 30.

Last year’s event was attended by over 300 people from all over the UK and raised over £20,000.

Organisers are promising another packed programme of famous faces, sporting action, live music and food and drink.

Ally McCoist was among those who turned up to play last year and word is he will be on court again this time around.

This year three Scottish charities will share funds raised on the day: The PEEK Project, Playlist For Life and Cancer Support Scotland.

Estate agent Vanilla Square and property management company Speirs Gumley are sponsoring this year's event.

Julie said: "It's going to be another great event for all the family.

"We have people from the world of TV, from the world of sport - actors and actresses, comedians - and even one or two people who can play tennis.

"It should be a really great day out for everyone."

A charity auction is expected to raise thousands of pounds for the three good causes, with a raft of fabulous prizes.

Tickets are still available but are going quickly so people are advised to act soon to avoid disappointment.
