St Mary's to host election hustings event - with poll expert John Curtice in the chair

Voters will get the chance to ask questions of the main party candidates.

General Election candidates will appear at a hustings event in the West End later today.

All the main political parties will be represented at the event which takes place at St Mary's Cathedral in Kelvinbridge starting at 7pm.

And chairing the event will be well-known psephologist John Curtice, professor of politics at the University of Strathclyde.

The event is organised by West End ACTS (Action for Churches Together).

Alison Spurway is one of the organisers of the hustings.

She said the format would be similar to BBC's Question Time.

"Members of the audience will be presented with cards on which to write questions and then John Curtice will read them out in the same way as Question Time," she said.

"We shall have a roving mike so John may include questions from the audience."

Candidates taking part are:

Taylor Muir Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party

Pam Duncan- Glancy Scottish Labour Party

Ben Denton-Cardrew Scottish Liberal Democrat Party

Patrick Grady Scottish National Party

Patrick Harvie Scottish Green Party
