The Kibble Palace is being lined up as a new location for Glasgow's farmers' market.
Plans are being looked at that could see the market alternate between Mansfield Park in Partick and a new home at the Botanic Gardens.
Stalls could even be situated inside the glasshouse when the weather is wet.
But the default would be to have the stalls laid out in an area adjacent to the Kibble Palace.
The markets would be staged on the first and third Saturdays of the month.
The same stalls would continue to form a market on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of the month at Mansfield Park.
Glasgow West End Today understands the plans are at a very stage of discussion.
But the move is already receiving soundings of concern in some quarters.
Preservation group The Friends of Glasgow West is not enamoured with the idea so far.
A source said: "We don't think this would be a positive addition to the Botanic Gardens visitor experience."
ALTERNATIVE HOME
The market on the 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month is currently held in Queens Park.
But that location is not thought to be doing so well.
City Property Glasgow, which manages the city council's property and markets, is looking for an alternative home.
The stalls would be located outside in the Botanics in dry weather, with the option of 20 tables around the outer edge of the main circle in the Kibble Palace in inclement weather.
A council spokesman said: "There are preliminary discussions on this which are at the earliest of stages, and certainly someway from any decision."
