Game, set and match as Rally For Bally tennis gala raises £19,000 for Scots charities

A tennis gala held in the West End has raised more than £19,000 for charity.

Coach and famous mum Judy Murray led the celebrity line-up at Rally For Bally in June.

A total just in puts the figure raised so far at £19,108.22p.

But a giving page is still open for further donations.

Organiser Julie Gordon said everyone was thrilled with the amount raised.

She said: "We are delighted with this year's total and the support from the club, community, the charities and our sponsors.

"Thank you to everyone who contributed."

Three Scottish charities stand to benefit from the money raised this year.

Line-up: This year's event include a star-studded array of famous faces.

They are PEEK Project that works with children to encourage outdoor play; Playlist For Life that advocates the power of music to help those with dementia; and Cancer Support Scotland which has a centre at the Gartnaval Hospital campus.

The charities took to Twitter to express delight at the success of the day.

PEEK Project said: "What great news to wake up too!

"That's amaaaazing! Well done to everyone who pulled the day together! & a HUGE Thanks from all at PEEK?"

Playlist for Life tweeted: "Absolutely amazing! Such a great total! Thank you @WesternTennis and all of your partners and of course the amazing celebs ?"

The charity event was set up in memory of former British number one tennis player Elena Baltcha who died of cancer four years ago.

A foundation set up in her name will also benefit from the event.
