Maryhill Museum to 'advance local access to facilities in arts, heritage and culture'

A call has gone out for people to get involved in a new heritage project for the West End.

A call has gone out for people to get involved in a new heritage project - Maryhill Museum.

The collection would be housed at Maryhill Burgh Halls.

Local charities, community groups, history groups, clubs and societies would contribute displays and stories.

Collections: Local groups would contribute to the story of the burgh.

The trust that runs the halls says a museum would "safeguard and celebrate Maryhill's history".

It would also provide somewhere for volunteers - or 'ambassadors' - to engage in exciting ideas, train in new skills and build confidence.

A Facebook post reads: "Maryhill Burgh Halls Trust is committed to collecting and making accessible the history of the Burgh Halls and Maryhill area.

"After six years of public events and building up the Trust's heritage collections, the Trust aims to take the next step in sharing local history by establishing the Maryhill Museum.

"The museum will be a place to share our local history collection and offer opportunities for community displays.

"Maryhill Museum will advance local access to facilities in arts, heritage and culture and engage with the local and wider community to safeguard and celebrate Maryhill's history."
