Local businesses in the West End have hit back in the battle for Christmas trade.

Small, independent traders say they want to celebrate the artisan as they launch a winter ‘Shop Local’ campaign.

Offers include a Fairtrade hot drink from S’mug coffee bar at a bargain £2 whilst you shop.

Shoppers can also enjoy free treats from Shearer Candles if they spend £20 or brunches from Bar Soba.

Visitors can download a brochure online https://www.visitwestend.com/blog/2017/11/29/winter-promotions

or pick up from over 20 stores across the West End.

The campaign has been put together by the Byres Road and Lanes Business Improvement District people.

Most of the Winter campaign offers run through until January.

DIRECT IMPACT

David Howat is chair of the Byres Road & Lanes BID Company Ltd.

He said: “Shopping local has a direct impact on the prosperity of our high streets, our shopkeepers and the unique businesses that can be found in the west end.

“All we ask this Christmas, is come out, talk to your traders, get inspired by their businesses and find something unique to give as a present this year.”

A Byres Road gift card - Glasgow’s first neighbourhood scheme - is also available to buy as a present.

The card is redeemable at more than 60 shops, restaurants, bars and other businesses on Byres Road and the adjacent lanes.
