Last call for budding poets in Maryhill to mark Burns Night with their own verse

A housing association is calling on budding poets to help celebrate diversity in the community.

Maryhill Housing Association says its want people living locally to be inspired to take part.

The social landlord wants submissions by Thursday January 18 - so time is short!

The subject matter of the poetry should be on the theme of "culture and diversity".

The best poems will be announced on Burns Night with prizes of up to £50.

A Facebook post by Maryhill Housing Association is urging local people to take part.

It reads: "Poetry has long been used to celebrate diversity throughout different cultures …

"With Burns Night approaching, Maryhill Housing is asking local residents to submit their own poetry on the theme of culture and diversity.

"We have prizes of up to £50 on offer!

"The competition is open to all ages and entries received from schools will also receive a class prize for any winners.

"All entries must be received by Thursday January 18 at 5pm and winners will be announced on Burns Night, Thursday January 25 in celebration of our much-loved national poet."
