Affordable community pantomime is just the ticket for West End kids … oh, yes it is!

The production promises plenty of fun and drama in the intimate setting of Maryhill Community Halls.

Families will be able to enjoy affordable pantomime in Maryhill this Christmas.

Panto director Brendon McIlroy wanted to design a Christmas event which wasn’t going to be exclusive but rather inclusive.

The production promises plenty of fun and drama in the intimate setting of Maryhill Community Central Halls.

And Glasgow actor Cameron Fulton has been signed up to play the lead part.

'Exceed expectations'

A Lad in Maryhill - an original take on the traditional Aladdin story - will run from December 5th to 30th.

Brendon said: "The idea behind A Lad in Maryhill is to bring a high quality, professionally produced panto out into the community and Maryhill Central Halls is the ideal venue for this.

"It’s a terrific space in a great location that serves not only Maryhill, but the entire West End.

"We want people to know you don’t need to go into the city centre and pay exorbitant ticket prices to see a panto when there’s one right on your doorstep that we hope will exceed expectations."

In the play, Aladdin, Widow Twankey and Wishee Washee swap the streets of west Glasgow for the Pyramids of Egypt on an unexpected and exciting adventure.

Widow Twankey's launderette isn't doing too well and Wishee Washee is up to mischief.

And to top it all off Aladdin has fallen in love with a Princess.

Will he be able to make his wishes come true and defeat the wicked Abanazar? You’ll need to head to Maryhill Community Halls to find out!

'Unique'

Brendon said: ‘A Lad in Maryhill' will be a truly unique show that’s like nothing else going on in Glasgow just now.

"We wanted to create something special and ultimately community focused for all the family to enjoy without the big price tag usually associated with pantos.”

Cameron Fulton said: "I am delighted to be spending Christmas in Glasgow playing Aladdin.

"I think bringing great theatre to the communities around Maryhill is a wonderful thing and I am really looking forward to seeing you all there.
