Small businesses and independent traders in Hyndland are doing everything they can this weekend to win our custom.

Shops along Hyndland Road are offering special discounts, nibbles, drinks and raffles to entice shoppers to come and support local businesses on Small Business Saturday (7 December).

Many independent small businesses on the 'boutique strip' are working together to promote the area, boost footfall and make the most of the busiest shopping day of the year.

The local shopping campaign is supported by the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB).

“Small businesses like us give shoppers something unique with a personal touch. If you are looking for something special as a Christmas gift, I am sure you will find it in one of these wonderful shops here.

“To celebrate Small Business Saturday, we are offering discounts, cakes and drinks and are looking forward to welcoming people from Glasgow and beyond.”

'Wonderful'

Hisashi Kuboyama, FSB’s development manager for Glasgow, said: “Small Business Saturday is a UK-wide campaign to champion small businesses, and FSB has been a proud supporter of the campaign.

“Hyndland has a number of wonderful independent small businesses.

"And Small Business Saturday is a great opportunity to support them by choosing to spending money with them – it doesn’t matter if you meet a pal for a coffee, pick up a Christmas present for a loved one, or if you grab some grub for the week ahead.”

In 2018, £748m was spent with small businesses across the UK on Small Business Saturday.
