Car set on fire outside Hyndland home in 'targeted and reckless' late-night attack

Man wearing a dark coloured puffer style hooded jacket, jogging bottoms and baseball cap was seen climbing over a wall.

Police are hunting a man who deliberately set fire to a car in the driveway of a house in Hyndland.

The incident happened in Hughenden Gardens at around 1.07am on Wednesday May 27 when a Citroen car was set alight.

The fire was extinguished by the Fire and Rescue Service.

Detective Constable Scott Hawkins at Drumchapel Police Office said: “This appears to be a targeted attack.

"The man we want to trace was seen climbing over a perimeter wall before carrying out the act.

"He is described as a white male wearing a dark coloured puffer style hooded jacket, light coloured jogging bottoms and a dark coloured baseball cap.

'Suspicious'

"We are currently carrying out door to door enquiries in the immediate area and would ask that anyone who may have seen or heard anything suspicious in the area of Hughenden Gardens around this time to call us on the 101 number, quoting the reference number 0230 of 27 May 2020.

"Likewise we would ask anyone in the area who may have a CCTV system fitted, or were perhaps in a vehicle fitted with a dash-cam, to review their system to see if it has captured anything which might assist us in this investigation.

"This was a reckless act and the consequences could have been tragic had the fire spread.
