The Sunny Baby Co tells mothers to prepare for birth like any other major life event - do your research and ‘don’t leave things to chance’.

Abigail who is based in the West End says her new career is a world away from what she was doing.

She told Glasgow West End Today: “I offer Mindful Hypnobirthing classes to help parents to prepare for a calm and positive birth.

“I teach simple but powerful mindfulness, relaxation and hypnosis techniques combined with information about the psychology of birth, how to eliminate fear, how to change thoughts around pain, the importance of a brilliant birth partner and an ideal birth environment."

Abigail says she aims to empower parents to take a fresh approach to child birth at a time of strain on the health service.

She says the usual services for mothers and fathers may not always be accessible during the current health crisis.

Abigail said: “The aim is to enable people to look forward to the arrival of their baby feeling calmly excited, informed, educated, empowered and in control.

“Helping people to prepare fully for one of the most important experiences of their lives, at a time when the usual ante-natal resources are not available.

“I’ve completely changed my life during lockdown.

"I left a long term job I loved in the charity sector to start my new business.

“Lots of people are afraid of birth, believe it’s going to be a long and painful, medicalised process.

“It doesn’t have to be. We possess all the tools we need already.

"You should prepare for the birth of your baby the same way that you should prepare for any other major life event like a wedding, a new job or a new house.

“Research, learn and explore. Don’t leave things to chance.”
