Show support by retweeting our local shops and businesses

The Saturday Twitter Market is our way of showing support for shops and businesses by asking our followers to retweet links and messages.

Glasgow West End Today is giving over its Twitter feed on Saturday to support local shops and businesses - and we need you to join us.

We are clearing the decks for two hours to retweet and help out our favourite local brands and entrepreneurs.

The Saturday Twitter Market is our way of helping out in small measure.

Some businesses will have websites and online stores they want you to know about.

We need you to help too.
We need you to help too.

Others such as hairdressers and beauty salons will just want to say hello and ask for your support when restrictions ease again.

Many restaurants and cafes are still providing takeaway, delivery and collection services.

Whatever they post, we hope you can join us in making a little bit of time this Saturday morning to stay across your Twitter feed.

Set your alarm to remind you to be hovering by the retweet button.

We need our followers to help the local economy.

We have asked shops and businesses to use the hashtags #supportlocal and #betterthanamazon.

The big online retailers have provided a vital service during the pandemic.

But these giants are not the backbone of the local economy.

They do not directly employ people on Byres Road, Argyle Street or on Dumbarton Road.

We need our local shops and businesses to survive to have neighbourhoods worth living in.

In this regard, we say they are ‘better than Amazon’.

Worth fighting for.
Worth fighting for.

So, give a little time this Saturday. Watch our Twitter feed, retweet and share our businesses' posts.

And take a look at what our shops, services and restaurants have got to offer online.

Don't let the lockdown stop you doing a bit of weekend shopping.

Saturday is the first day of the new lockdown.

A little bit of love and support now will help businesses over the next three weeks.
