A West End hair salon is celebrating 20 years serving clients and the local community.
Kennedy + Co Hairdressing has been a fixture on Dumbarton Road since 2001.
But the experienced team was determined not to sit back after lockdown.
Re-engerised and inspired, staff have introduced fresh ideas and a new product range into the salon.
FFØR is a line of naturally and ethically sourced shampoos, conditioners, styling products and treatments now available in store.
Manager Luke Duggin said the anniversary was an opportunity for the Partick business to adapt and move forward.
“I think being established for 20 years and celebrating that milestone is a big deal for the business.
“We have continued to build on the earlier years when the business was establishing itself.
“The hair industry was such a different place for the clients back then.”
'Completely sustainable'
He explained the importance of the new product range.
“FFØR is a new, completely sustainable brand, produced in the UK, so the carbon footprint is lower.
“It’s all 100% vegan and cruelty free, ethically sourced, fully recyclable bottles, jars and tubes, made from PCR materials which is really important for us.
“I think a lot of beauty products struggle with that association.
“And it actually works as well. It’s a natural product, and delivers fantastic looking hair with a clean conscience.”
Owner Helen Kennedy was due to retire last year but put on hold her plans when the pandemic kicked in.
She continued with the business to ensure the team and business with its long-standing and loyal clientele were protected.

Now out of lockdown, Helen has handed over day-to-day running of the salon to Luke and his team.
She said: “Luke is passionate about the Vidal Sassoon philosophy having trained and worked in several top London salons and is the creative person and energy behind the salon.
“When we first opened 20 years ago things seemed to stay the way they were for years on end.
“Now with social media, styles and fashions change so fast.
“People are seeing looks and styles and they want them instantly.
“It’s not always achievable instantly, but we relish the challenge to give our clients what they want.”
Luke recently introduced a ‘mantra’ for the business to reflect the challenges faced by staff and clients over the last 18 months.
“At Kennedy + Co we embrace the feeling of community as we adapt to the extraordinary times we are living in.

“We aim to deliver a genuine and friendly experience, with professional and organised communication.
“We champion confidence boosting hair. ‘I love my hair’ moments are our mission,” it reads.
Luke explains: “We are about bringing everyone together and saying thank you to our clients after a very tough year and how we are looking forward to serving them for many years to come.
“We want people to feel fantastic about themselves and their hair and will always strive to deliver that for our clients.
“We would love to take the opportunity to thank all of our very loyal clients - we couldn’t have done it without you.”
