One of Glasgow’s best-loved pubs has unveiled a new event space after a surge in demand.
Stravaigin owners Colin Clydesdale and Carol Wright believe the Cellar at Stravaigin will be the perfect venue for all occasions.
The team is seeing the return of large groups after the recent Covid restrictions and lockdowns.
The Cellar, which has undergone a significant revamp and is flexible to cater for anything from private functions to festive parties, opens today (Friday Oct 29).
And Stravaigin says it has been overwhelmed already with enquiries for the festive season and will be packed throughout the UN climate change conference that is about to kick off.
The relaxed private dining area showcases an eclectic mural taking inspiration from global food culture.
Carol Wright said: “This has been a passion project for us.
“We love hosting events but weren’t able to for so long – it’s given us plenty of time to create the perfect space for destination private dining.
“Our mission is to Think Global and Eat (and drink) local. In creating this space, we looked to some of our favourite hidden cocktail bars for inspiration.
“We want to provide a space where people can escape from the world and enjoy vibrant events, interesting company, and showcase our incredible, locally sourced food and drink.
“It will certainly be a talking point!”
The venue is also set to welcome live musicians back downstairs, with the return of folk music sessions.
Head Chef James MacRae has created special menus for The Cellar – with options to suit every occasion including a party menu, festive menu, a three-course seasonal menu and a six-course tasting menu.
Stravaigin, which was recently named as one of The 50 Best Gastropubs In The UK, is featured in this year’s Michelin Guide.
The award-winning restaurant was known for events pre-Covid, including its popular “Brexit Bunker”.
Then, Glasgwegians came together to say a sad farewell to Europe while enjoying some of the region’s favourite dishes, and “Cleikum Club”.
