A woman has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after an incident in the Jordanhill area.
Media reports said the woman was taken to hospital after police were called to Southbrae Gardens.
Eyewitnesses reported seeing a large police presence in the area after the alarm was raised at around 6.30pm.
Social media reports suggested some officers at the scene were armed.
Police confirmed they were called out to reports of a woman sustaining serous injuries.
A spokesman told The Sun: “Police were called at 6.30pm on on August 22 after reports that a woman was suffering from serious injuries in a house in Southbrae Gardens in Jordanhill.
"She has been taken by ambulance to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where her condition is described as serious.
'Enquiries ongoing'
“Officers are at the scene and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the incident.”
Twitter users posted about the ongoing police presence.
One user said: "Just in from playing football with my son at Jordanhill grounds.
"Lots of police - I think some armed too in the school etc. Helicopter earlier too."
Another Twitter user said: "Officers responded to reports of a disturbance around 1830.
"@policescotland following definite line of enquiry."
Southbrae Gardens backs on to the open grounds of the former Jordanhill College Campus.
It is a quiet residential area close to Jordanhill School.
* Police later issued an appeal for a vulnerable missing man, 20, last seen at his home in Southbrae Drive at 6.30pm.
He was described as being in a “very distressed state”.
The person was later traced safe and well.
