From Kelvingrove to 'Elfingrove' … festive family show to transform city landmark

itison - which is behind the GlasGLOW event in the Botanic Gardens - is promising a world-class production.

Kelvingrove museum is to be taken over by elves this Christmas as part of a £1m high-production family show.

Online deals and events company itison has struck its own deal to bring one of Glasgow's favourite landmarks to life throughout December.

Kelvingrove will be turned into 'Elfingrove' for a run of evening shows - after normal visiting hours.

itison - which is behind the GlasGLOW event in the Botanic Gardens - is promising a world-class production.

The museum will be transformed into a spectacular Christmas show where the museum’s inhabitants come to life and an ancient secret is finally revealed.

A 60-strong production team will create a spell-binding night-time tour of the museum.

It will culminate in a show capturing the magic of Christmas using state of the art technology, sound and lighting.

With over 100,000 visitors expected to attend, itison says it aims to create an epic Christmas spectacle the people of Glasgow and beyond can be proud of.

Oli Norman is the CEO of itison and creator of Elfingrove, who is investing over £1 million to launch Elfingrove.

Itison will be creating The Elfingrove Legacy Fund (ELF) giving back to the local community and donating 1000 tickets to good causes.

He said: “We’ve been working on Elfingrove for two years and are beyond excited to finally announce it to the people of Glasgow.

"Only me, my daughter and Santa know an ancient secret that we’ll be revealing for the first time at Elfingrove that will challenge everything you know about Christmas…”

Gourmet street food

itison will also be transforming Kelvingrove’s gardens.

After being taken on a journey through the museum, visitors will emerge into a spectacular, fairy-lit winter wonderland.

Here people can enjoy gourmet street food, an epic bar and some awesome all-singing, all-dancing festive surprises, with the backdrop of Kelvingrove’s incredibly lit façade.
