West End charities and community groups have been given a boost by Tesco.
The retailer has extended a scheme which sees surplus food from its stores going to good causes - and not landfill.
Now smaller stores on Byres Road, Great Western Road and Argyle Street have signed up.
Using a phone app, the system allows the stores to alert local groups when surplus food becomes available.
Groups can simply turn up and collect the food which is free to take away.
Consignments can include fresh fruit and vegetables, bakery products and chilled food like meat, cheese and ready meals.
Since launching in February 2016, Community Food Connection has helped provide 10 million meals to over 5,000 charities and community groups.
BENEFITED
In Glasgow, 109,935 meals have been donated and have already benefited local charities.

HOMELESS
Tesco has stated its commitment to ensure no food fit for human consumption will go to waste from their UK retail operations by the end of 2017.
Groups that benefit include homeless shelters, substance abuse rehabilitation services, after-school clubs, foodbanks and domestic violence refuges.
Last month we highlighted the work being done by the charity Move On to redistribute hundreds of tonnes of surplus food.
The charity operates a FareShare franchise for Glasgow and the West of Scotland from a new depot in Whiteinch.
