Win the chance to appear in a crime novel

Oxfam’s book shop on Byres Road is selling tickets

A crime writer is raffling the chance for a local reader to appear in his next novel.

Paul Wandrum is offering a literary debut to one lucky winner as a way of raising money for Oxfam.

The raffle tickets are being sold through the Oxfam Book Shop on Byres Road.

The person drawn out of the hat will get the exclusive opportunity to be immortalised in print.

Paul was inspired to offer the prize after taking part in the West End Book Festival earlier in the year.

Paul said: “Oxfam is a charity that I feel strongly about and admire all the great work that has been done and continues to be done to fight poverty and injustice across the world.”

Tickets cost £3 and are available from Oxfam’s Byres Road Bookshop.

The winning ticket will be drawn on Christmas Eve.

Elena Avila, manager of Oxfam’s Byres Road Bookshop, said: “We all know someone who is tricky to buy for, but it’s hard to think of a more unique gift than the chance to be immortalised in print as a character in a novel.

“Of course, each ticket that’s purchased isn’t just a shot at creating a lasting memory for one lucky person, it also helps support Oxfam’s lifesaving work around the world.

“What could be a better gift?”

Paul’s first novel Demon’s Fare was self-published in the summer.

He also appeared at the Edinburgh Book Festival to publicise the book.

Born in Paisley, he has previously written and published three local history books.
